Iveria, a company that features Georgian dance and song, was founded in St. Petersburg in 2002 within the Georgian community. Lead by director David Rusiya and choreographer Irakli Rusiya, the aim of the ensemble is to familiarize audiences with Georgian folk art and to impart to children a sense of tolerance and respect for other cultures.
Iveria has performed at many festivals and cultural events of St. Petersburg; they also received First Place in awards and diplomas for the Days of Commemoration of 300 years of St. Petersburg.
In connection with the 60th anniversary of the Blockade of Leningrad, the ensemble performed at a gala concert reaping them the rewards of a dedicated fan base and audience. Since 2006, Iveria has become a permanent participant of the Festival of National-Cultural Associations of St. Petersburg - "Joining Hands Friend" - for which they were awarded diplomas from the Governor of St. Petersburg. Additional rewards include the winner of the Festival of Folk Art of the 100th anniversary of the Trade Unions and the international festival known as "St. Petersburg Snowstorm".
The ensemble's repertoire includes songs and dances from almost all regions of Georgia. Iveria is distinguished by its traditional, authentic approach which was the original idea of the ensemble.
